Local gymnasts succeed at Junior Olympic level

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - With less than two months until the Rio Olympics, two New River Valley gymnasts are collecting medals at the Junior Olympic level right here in the United States.

Raena Worley and Cecelia Kominsky both recently placed at national competitions in Forth Worth and Virginia Beach.

Worley is a Level 10 Junior Olympic gymnast, which is just one step below what you need to have a shot at qualifying for the Olympics. Kominsky is currently at Level 9, and hopes to move up soon.

The girls, both high school sophomores, train five to six hours a day, five days a week, on top of their regular school days. They both hope to compete at the Division I collegiate level.

Remember, you can catch all the action from Rio on WSLS 10.
