State Police investigate deadly crash in Franklin Co.

FRANKLIN CO. (WSLS 10) - State Police are investigating a deadly two vehicle crash in Franklin County.

According to troopers, it happened June 13 at 7:56 P.M. at the intersection of Routes 220 and 619.

That's when State Police say a car was driving east on route 619 when the driver failed to yield the right of way at the Route 220 intersection. When the car entered the intersection, a pickup truck driving south on Route 220 hit the car.

The car's driver, Joanne Holland, 79, of Rocky Mount was wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, John Yeaman, Jr. was wearing his seatbelt and was not hurt.

No charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
