What's News Today: June 15, 2016

(WSLS 10) - The City of Roanoke will look back at successes over the last decade in its Clean and Green initiative tonight while also planning for the future. City leaders will talk about some of the most successful programs while representatives from Virginia Western and Carilion Clinic will talk about how the city became a cleaner, greener and healthier place to live.

The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation holds a seminar today for small businesses about marketing. Business will learn how to market their companies.

We will learn more today about this year's Commonwealth Games. Virginia Amateur Sports will make several announcements about this year's event. This is the first year the games will be held at Liberty University after more than a quarter century in the Roanoke Valley. The Opening Ceremony is July 22.

Carilion Clinic gives a presentation today about the latest treatments for Parkinson's Disease and tremors. A neurosurgeon will talk about Deep Brain Stimulation, which is a procedure where a device, similar to a pacemaker, delivers electrical stimulation to improve quality of life. The presentation starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Forest Library.
