WISE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - One person is dead after a car crash in Wise County, according to Virginia State Police.
Police said it happened around five Saturday night in the northbound lanes of Route 23 near mile marker 50.

They said a car traveling south on Route 23 crossed into the northbound lanes and crashed.
Police said there is one confirmed fatality.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
All northbound lanes of Route 23 were cleared and reopened to traffic by 6:40 p.m. Saturday.
