ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke Mayor David Bowers led his final city council meeting Monday.
Bowers passed the gavel onto to mayor-elect Sherman Lea.
"I'd like to think I'm leaving the city in good hands and Sherman Lea is worthy of your trust and admiration for having attained the highest office of honor in the city of Roanoke," said Mayor Bowers.
Lea officially takes office July 1.
Monday also marked the last meeting for council member Court Rosen, who did not run for re-election.
