PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Plans are underway to help farmers across the Commonwealth.

Tuesday Governor McAuliffe and state agriculture leaders announced a new office is being created to help the farmers better promote themselves.

The office will serve as a marketing liaison for farmers.

It was specifically created to help farmers develop a marketing strategy using social media to market their crops, and to market their farm as a whole for the purpose of agritourism.

The office will be run by the state department of agriculture.

Governor McAuliffe said he came up with the ideas after talking to business leaders from around the world during his last business trip to Japan.
