ALTON (WSLS 10) - A major gun competition is underway at Virginia International Raceway.
The 3 Gun Nation competition kicked off Thursday and runs through Saturday.

Between 70 and 100 professionals and amateurs from across the U.S. will face off in various shooting challenges with pistols, shotguns, and rifles.
Organizers say the event is as educational as it is fun.
"This is proficiency with these firearms, safe handling, marksmanship, and that type of thing," said Charles Sole, one of the competition supervisors. "It's a very dynamic, challenging course of fire. It's basically the X-Games of competitive shooting."
The top performers will get to compete in the 3 Gun National Championship at VIR in October.
