ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS10)-- Local crews from the Western Region of the Virginia Department of Forestry are headed out west to help battle the deadly fires.

Ed Stoots, the Regional Forester, tells WSLS10 that one crew has been sent to New Mexico and another is leaving for South Dakota this week to help fight the fires in those areas. Typically, an assignment like this will last about two weeks.
