Danville Islamic Center opens up to show the community what Islam is really about
DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - After the terror attacks in Istanbul and Bangladesh, the Danville Islamic Center is sharing the message that Muslims do not condone violence.
Wednesday was the final day of the Muslim holy month, so the Islamic center invited the public in to see the celebration.
It's part of an effort to show people what Muslims are really like - in the hopes that people will begin to understand that the people who carry out the terror attacks do not represent the religion.
"We want peace. We don't want corruption, we don't want killing. We just want to be part of the fabric of society of America. We're in America. We love this country," emphasized Abdul Hakim Abdullah, the representative for the Virginia Chapter of Muslim Men In Action.
Members of the Islamic center also encourage people to contact their local Islamic center and ask questions.
