PHCC, Radial joining forces to help people get jobs

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - A major Martinsville company is teaming up with Patrick Henry Community College to try to help peopleĀ get jobs.

Radial, formerly known as eBay, worked with the college to create a logistics technician program specifically designed to train people to work at the company.

Up until now, the company has had to look elsewhere for employees because there weren't any people locally who were trained.

Radial currently has about 30 open positions. People who complete the program are guaranteed an internship and an interview with the company.

On Thursday morning, an information session was held for the new program.

"It's a little about engineering, a little about logistics, a little bit about transportation and a little bit about warehousing," explainedĀ Radial Operations Director Kim Glisson.

PHCC's workforce programs coordinator Brenell Thomas hopes this partnership with Radial sparks an interest with other companies in the area.

"To be able to connect job seekers to a job opportunity through training is ultimately an opportunity for the college that we'd like to do with many more employers in the community," Thomas emphasized.

The program lasts nine monthsĀ and begins August 1.

The deadline to apply is July 25.
