Montgomery County Sheriff's Office offers event for community with disabilities

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with other first responders to reach community members with disabilities.

The pilot program, EFFORT, stands for enabling friends for our response teams.

There will be an event Saturday featuring an obstacle course and workshops on things like contacting 911.

The sheriff's office said the goal is to interact with the disabled community in a positive light.

The EFFORT event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christiansburg High School.
