VSP Seeking public's help in hit-&-run crash in Tazewell County

TAZEWELL COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police need your help locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run. According to police, at 5:37 p.m., Saturday Virginia State Police Senior Trooper W.B. McCoy responded to a two-vehicle crash in Tazewell County. A red Dodge Neon was traveling west on Route 460 through the Pounding Mill community when it was struck by a vehicle pulling out from a private drive. The other vehicle severely damaged the Neon and then fled the scene heading west on Route 460 at a high rate of speed.

Witnesses describe the hit-and-run vehicle as a newer-model, solid red Jeep Liberty. The Jeep Liberty will have extensive damage to the front driver's side fender and alongside the driver's side of the vehicle.

Both the 60-year-old male driver and 58-year-old female passenger were transported to Clinch Valley Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. Both the driver and passenger are Pounding Mill residents.
