Shelor Motor Mile reports $600,000 worth of cash, checks and jewelry stolen

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - About $600,000 in cash, checks and jewelry was stolen from the Shelor Motor Mile finance office in Christiansburg over the weekend, according to David Hagan, the owner of Shelor Motor Mile.

Hagan said it happened either sometime after 9:30 p.m. Saturday or early Sunday morning. He said there is a safe in the finance office that has been there for many years in a secure area.

He says there was no break in and it had to be a couple of people who carried the safe off the lot, according to Hagan.

"We took our safety for granted," said Hagan. "We feel like whoever did this knows our environment and hope that somebody will report it or these guys will make a mistake."

Christiansburg police are investigating.and anyone with information is being asked to call the Christiansburg Police Department Crime Line at (540) 382-4084.

Shelor Motor Mile is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
