Michael Phelps carries the U.S. flag at the 2016 Rio Opening Ceremony

NBC Olympics.com – Michael Phelps carried the U.S. flag at the 2016 Rio Opening Ceremony after being selected as flag bearer by the members of Team USA.

As flag bearer, he wore a specially-designed outfit that included an illuminated section, which he showed off via social media.

Swimmer Gunnar Bentz joined Phelps as one of the only swimmers marching in the ceremony. Phelps broadcasted his journey to the Maracana stadium on Facebook live, which you can watch below:
