NBC Olympics.com – In the final light flyweight match of the day, Nico Hernandez defeated Italy's Manuel Cappai by unanimous decision. He joins three other Team USA boxers that have moved on to the next round of preliminary matches.
A notable moment in the match occurred early on in the first round when Hernandez flipped Cappai over his head in a vertical suplex position.

In the other evening light fly match-ups, Namibia's Mathias Hamunyela defeated Azebaijan's Rufat Huseynov, and Mexico's Joselito Velazquez Altamirano defeated Argentina's Leandro Blanc.
