Roanoke County approves first strategic plan

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Roanoke County leaders are considering community members recommendations to improve quality of life over the next five years.

The county's first strategic plan was approved on Tuesday night by the board of supervisors. The goal of the plan is to strengthen development and spending decisions.

The plan focuses on improving transportation, workforce development, infrastructure, schools and public safety.

"We want to make sure that if people are requesting budgetary resources that they're in concert with what the strategic direction the county should be," said Assistant County Administrator Dan O'Donnell. ‘Also, it's a transparency thing where the public now knows the direction that we're going in."

More than 900 people gave their feedback.
