This isn't a new development, of course. Lynn and Rick went viral at the 2012 London Olympics for their shouts of "Catch it! Catch it! STICK IT!" from the stands. But Lynn's nervous tendancies date back a lot futher. When Aly was a 10-year-old gymnast, she and Lynn and watched Carly Patterson win all-around gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Lynn said, "Oh, my god, I don't even know her and I'm so nervous. Her mom must be a wreck. Thank goodness like this isn't something I'll have to do." Watch what happened next here:
At the 2016 P&G Championships, Lynn and Rick hadn't learned how to control their nerves.
And when the Rio Olympics began, they found themselves having viral-worthy freakouts yet again--with Rick apparently wearing the same shirt he wore in London.
But they're in good company. President Obama admits that he thinks gymnastics is spectacular, he can't enjoy watching it because he spends the entire routine thinking, "Oh, she's going to fall!"
