Celebrity chefs to take over Draper Mercantile

FANCY GAP (WSLS 10) - Celebrity chefs are preparing to take over a Pulaski County restaurant as part of a local food movement.

Torrece Gregoire (Chef T) from Hell's Kitchen and Jernard Wells (Love Chef) from the Food Network toured several farms in Carroll County Monday. They picked up ingredients for a small dinner Monday night at the Draper Mercantile.

On September 16, they will return to the Draper Mercantile with several other celebrity chefs to launch the Farm to Fork series. This program is designed to raise awareness of local food and producers, and to teach people how to prepare inexpensive, healthy meals at home.

"With rising health issues like diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, there is definitely a push for people to eat healthier," said Chef T.

The September 16 takeover will feature food from five farms in Pulaski, Wythe and Carroll counties.
