FRANKLIN CO. (WSLS 10) - The Franklin County Agricultural Fair is set to showcase locally-grown produce and locally-made products. See release below for more information:
The 3rd Annual Franklin County Agricultural Fair (FCAF) seeks to showcase agriculture-related skills and highlight the most prized locally-grown produce and locally-made products in the region. From fresh vegetables and fruit to jams, pumpkins, quilts and more, the fair is featuring the best of the best homegrown talent.
The FCAF will host an entry day for competitive exhibits on Monday, Sept. 12 from 1-7 pm at the Franklin County Recreation Park – site of the 2016 fairgrounds. The event will allow participants to enter in a variety of agriculture related items under three broad division categories (Agriculture Products, Homemaking and Crafts).
Categories which are further broken down by class, include fresh and canned fruits and vegetables, baked goods, canned meats, flowers, quilts and more. Participants may enter items in various categories, but are limited to only one item per class.
"Competitive exhibits are a great way to celebrate local and regional agriculture, and the skills of the participants who grow and create these wonderful items," said Carol Haynes, extension agent with Virginia Cooperative Extension who is chair of the fair's competitions committee.
Competitive exhibits are open to participants in and beyond Franklin County. For entry forms, rules and a complete list of categories, please visit FCAgFair.com. For questions or more information, please contact Haynes at (540) 483-5161.
