NBC Olympics.com – Simone Biles never said that she wanted to win five gold medals at the Olympics. So what did Biles mention, repeatedly, was her dream?
Meeting Zac Efron.
She's been a fan for years, and when she appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in March, Ellen gave her a leotard adorned with Efron's face.
"He doesn't know that you have a crush on him, but I want you to get his attention," DeGeneres said. "So I got you something to wear at the Olympics."
Turns out it didn't take a special leotard to make Efron sit up and take notice of Biles. Even before she won four golds and a bronze in Rio, he was a fan of the superstar gymnast, and tweeted her a good luck message befor the U.S. Olympic Trials.
He sent his congratulations and cheers again from afar during the first few days of Olympic competition.
But hours after Biles claimed her fifth Olympic medal, a gold in the floor final, Efron arrived in Rio to congratulate her in person.
