Bird left the game against Japan in the second quarter and did not return. After the game Bird told ESPN's Julie Foudy that she felt a "pop" in her knee.

"Obviously I felt a huge relief," said Bird according to the USA Basketball statement. "The hardest part is waiting and not knowing. So, to finally get the thumbs-up from the doc that everything was okay was incredibly relieving and exciting, and obviously I'm very happy."

The U.S. women play again on Thursday. Bird's status for the game has not yet been announced.
