(WSLS 10) - Savannah Guthrie sits down with Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine and his wife Anne Holton. This is their first join interview since Kaine was named Hillary Clinton's running mate.
Carilion clinic offers free blood pressure screening and diabetes assessment today at the Roanoke Main Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The screenings are offered as part of the medical system's response to health needs highlighted in the Community Health Needs Assessment. Also today, players from the Salem Red Sox and team mascot Mugsy will visit kids at Carilion Children's Hospital.
Staples holds a Teacher Appreciation Day sale at stores across the country. Teachers will receive ten percent off of their purchases with a valid teacher ID. The first 100 teachers at each store will receive a free sample kit with special coupons.
A new place to shop for groceries opens in Danville today. Walmart opens a new Neighborhood Market store on Dan Drive. The new store will create nearly one hundred new jobs. The grand opening is at 7:30 a.m. The store will be open 24 hours a day.
Life Out Loud Films holds a celebration and kick-off for it's new film Shoeless Wonders, based on a legendary local football team. The movie is scheduled to shoot in Lynchburg starting in the fall of next year. Author David Baldacci and former NFL and Virginia Tech player Jake Grove are expected to be there. Another film produced by the company, Wish You Well, will be shown.
