Lynchburg police holding retirement ceremony for K-9 with cancer

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Next week, the Lynchburg Police Department will celebrate the career of K-9 Agar, who was recently diagnosed with bone cancer.

The retirement ceremony is set for Monday, August 29, 2016 at 9 a.m. in front of the West Building (805 Court Street).

Agar has served the department since September 2011 and was handled by Officers D.W. Stump and N.R. Godsie during his career.

He has not only been responsible for the safety of his two handlers, but for all members of the LPD on patrol and the citizens of the greater Lynchburg area.

Agar has always been eager to do his job and has been a loyal partner, according to the police department.
