No arrests yet in underground marijuana growing facility investigation

FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Search warrants show where the Franklin County Sheriff's Office found an underground marijuana growing facility.

According to search warrants, it was found by helicopter in the 180 block of Meeks Road in Penhook.

Deputies say they had to go 10-feet down a ladder and crawl through a 10-foot tunnel to reach a 40-by-8-foot storage container that had been buried.

Investigators say the container had multiple marijuana plants, as well as a large number of guns and ammunition, as well as a safe containing a number of knives locked inside.

ABC agents also recovered Items used to manufacture untaxed whiskey.

At this time no charges have been filed in the case.
