Martinsville motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run accident, police suspect white sedan

HENRY CO. (WSLS 10) – A man is killed in a hit and run crash in Henry County Saturday.

The Virginia State Police are investigating the accident that happened on Saturday, September 3.

Jeffrey Curtis Hairston, 58, of Martinsville died at the scene.

According to police, at 11:38 p.m. Hairston was driving a 2006 Suzuki M109R motorcycle north on Route 220 at the Route 58 by-pass. Hairston was hit by an unknown vehicle believed to be a a white sedan. The vehicle may be missing part of the left front bumper cover on the driver's side said authorities.

Hairston was in the roadway and was then hit by a 2007 Mazda CX-7 which was also traveling north on Route 220.

Hairston was wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Salem Division Crash Reconstruction Team and Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
