MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - A new partnership in Southside is helping victims of abuse and sexual assault.

The Southside Survivor Response Center organized volunteers on Friday to help put together 200 care kits to celebrate the center's partnership with Fear 2 Freedom.

Fear 2 Freedom is an international non-profit that helps provide care kits to victims of abuse and sexual assault.

The kits contain toiletries, clothes, and a few other small items.

They will be given to local victims at hospitals after their clothes have been taken for evidence.

"In our country, often, at the hospital they walk out in paper scrubs. This broke my heart, so we began this program to meet that immediate need," said Rosemary Trible, President and Founder of Fear 2 Freedom.

After the kits were finished, the Blue Ridge chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse escorted them to Carilion Hospital in Franklin County.
