Second suspect arrested after shots fired in Downtown Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police have arrested a second suspect in connection to Thursday's report of shots fired in Downtown.

Police say just after 9:00 p.m., they arrested 25-year-old Rogernal Ferguson in the 2200 block of Aragon Street without incident.

He was arrested on outstanding warrants for strangulation and domestic assault and battery. No additional warrants have been obtained.

Police arrested the first suspect on Thursday at about 12:15 p.m. in the 500 Block of Eleventh Street in Lynchburg. He was identified as 18-year-old Dontae Spinner of Lynchburg. He was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm.

Officers were in the area of the 1000 Block of Clay Street, when shots were fired on Thursday, at about 9:30 a.m. They received a description of two suspects from witnesses in the area and a direction of travel.

Dunbar Middle School, the Empowerment Academy and R.S. Payne were locked down Thursday morning as a result of the investigation. The lockdowns were lifted at about 12:45 p.m.

The information police received indicates the incident does not appear to be a random act. There have been no reports of injuries at this time.
