ROANOKE (WSLS10) - The fifteenth anniversary of 9/11 is Sunday and first responders in our area paid tribute to the fallen servicemen.

About 300 people participated in the "9/11 Memorial Stair Climb."

Several fire departments from places across the area, including Roanoke City and Roanoke County climbed the equivalent of 110 stories of the World Trade Center to remember the fallen firefighters from the deadly attack.

They climbed stairs inside the Wells Fargo building in Downtown Roanoke and money for the event benefits "National Fallen Firefighter Foundation" which supports the families of fallen public servants.

This was the second year for the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
