Virginia Tech falls in Battle at Bristol to Tennessee

BRISTOL (WSLS 10) - Virginia Tech started strong but couldn't keep the momentum and lost 45-24 against the University of Tennessee in the Battle at Bristol.

Tech started the game 14-0, but Tennessee responded by scoring 31 unanswered points.

The Hokies finished the game with 400 total yards, after accumulating 204 in the first quarter alone.

For the Vols, they only had 28 yards of total offense, but finished the game with 330.

The Hokies committed five turnovers to the Vols one and Tennessee scored 21 points off those turnovers.

Tennessee QB Joshua Dobbs, was 10-19 passing for 91 yards and threw for 3 TDs. On the ground, he had 14 rushes for 106 yards and 2 TDs.

As expected, the game was played in front of a record 156,990 people.

The Hokies now prepare to play Boston College at home at 3:30 on Saturday, Sept. 17.
