Vinton police investigating after vandals cause thousands of dollars in property damage

VINTON (WSLS 10) - The Vinton Police Department is investigating a breaking and entering and property damage incident at the old Roland E. Cook School in Vinton during the weekend.

The school, located at 412 S. Poplar Street is currently being renovated and converted into apartments. The project, which will result in 21 apartments, is slated to be finished in March or April of 2017.

Police say the suspects broke into the building between September 23 and 25, damaging the interior of the building and an assortment of construction supplies. The structure and its contents sustained several thousand dollars in damage.
