DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - Danville will soon have a new craft brewery.
Virginia Secretary of Trade and Commerce Todd Haymore made the announcement in Danville on Tuesday afternoon.
Ballad Brewing will be located at 600 Craghead Street. The top two floors of the building will be converted into 56 apartments.
There will be a 20-barrel brew system for production and 3.5 barrels for the tasting room.
Head brewer John Andofer said Danville's River District is the perfect place for a brewery.
"With the new jobs that are coming, the apartment space, it kind of fits with that vibe of a young crowd as well as an established community space we hope to be part of," Andofer explained.
The brewery is scheduled to open in April or May of 2017.
A $90,805 check was presented to the brewery from the Virginia Tourism Growth Fund and will be matched by the city.
