Body found in Pulaski creek identified

PULASKI (WSLS 10) - Police say the body found in a Pulaski creek on Wednesday is a Pulaski County man who was reported missing earlier this month.

On the body, Investigators found a Virginia ID for John Owens. Owens was reported missing on September 9.

The body was found on Wednesday afternoon in the creek, about 20 feet below a former Deli-Mart at 809 Lee Highway in the town of Pulaski.

There was no indication at the scene as to the cause of death.

Detectives from the Pulaski Police Department investigated the scene and the body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy and to determine a positive identification.

The investigation is ongoing.
