LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) -- After surveillance images captured on a nanny cam appeared to show a Lexington nanny physically abusing a special needs child in her care, police have made an arrest.

Lillian D. White was arrested Monday night after the story first ran on LEX 18. She has been charged with second-degree criminal abuse. Police started the investigation after Tiffany Fields discovered the shocking behavior from her son's caretaker.

Tiffany Fields' four-year-old son Luke has Down Syndrome, heart defects, and epilepsy.

He needs constant care, so Tiffany said a woman from Caretenders, a division of Almost Family, started watching Luke back in June.

The family's attorney, Dale Golden, said they noticed behavior changes with Luke, so Tiffany set up a nanny cam.

"Once she looked at it, to her shock, she saw that her child was not only being physically abused but also verbally abused," said Golden.

Golden told LEX 18 that in part of the video, you can see White sitting on Luke's chest for a few minutes as she changed his diaper. He said the video also captured the caretaker dragging the four-year-old before changing his diaper. She is also seen flipping the child on the floor.

Golden said that the nanny cam shows that while sitting on Luke, the caretaker said, "you little s***. This is what we're going to do. We're going to do it my way."

He said she could also be heard saying, "you're not going to kick me, ‘cause I'm sitting on top of you."

A spokesperson with Caretenders told LEX 18 that the company was unaware of these allegations until they were contacted by LEX 18. The spokesperson said the company will start investigating immediately and talk to the appropriate parties. He said they have reached out to the Fields family as well.

The spokesperson released this statement Tuesday, "Yesterday, Lillian D. White, an employee, was charged with allegations of abuse. The company learned of the allegations against Ms. White only a few hours before her arrest. We take these allegations very seriously, and are taking prompt steps to address the matter."

White was released on a $5000 partially secured bond. She entered a not guilty plea.
