Trolley service being considered for downtown Danville

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - A survey is now available to help Danville city leaders determine if trolley service should be set up for the city's River District.

The city currently has two trolleys that serve as back-ups for city buses when a bus is taken out of service for maintenance.

Councilman James Buckner came up with the idea of using the trolleys to service the River District.

He has talked with people and business owners who seem to be very excited about the idea and he believes it will help continue the growth in the downtown area.

"I think it's instrumental to getting people from the old West End up to Ballou Park and down to the River District and up North Main; just to draw more business, more traffic, more people in," said Buckner.

The survey will be available until October 31.
