CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WSLS 10) - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced new host locations for eight of its 2016-2017 conference championships on Thursday.

The 2016 football championship will now be at Salem Stadium on November 12, while the 2017 indoor track and field championships will be February 12-13, 2017 at Liberty University.

Over the past 15 years, the city has upgraded the 7,100-seat stadium on multiple occasions, including adding artificial turf and upgrading locker rooms and media facilities. Salem Stadium has been home to the Division III Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl Football Championship since 1993 while the city has also hosted championships in baseball, softball, women's lacrosse, and women's volleyball.

Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia will open the doors of their brand new track facility for the 2017 Women's and Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship held February 12-13, 2017. The facility includes a hydraulically banked 200-meter track oval, eight 42" lanes on the infield straightaway, and six 42" lanes on the curve in addition to two horizontal jump and two pole vault runways in the infield.

In September, the 12 members of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Board of Directors reached the decision to immediately relocate 8 of the 10 North Carolina-based conference championships.

The 2017 Women's Tennis and Women's and Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships have been relocated to another CIAA campus. Bowie State University has renovated both their tennis and track & field facilities within the last two years. Tennis will be held April 19-22, 2017 with outdoor track & field taking place April 21-22, 2017.

The 2016 Women's and Men's Cross Country Championship will be held at Joseph Bryan Park in Richmond, Virginia on October 27, 2016. Several conference programs have previously participated in meets on the course, including Virginia Union University who will serve as this year's championship host institution. The women's 5k race will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. with the men's 8k to follow at 11:00 a.m.
