Police: Shots fired at trooper during chase on I-64

SHANNON HILL, Va. (AP) - State police say two people have been arrested after the passenger in a car fired shots at a trooper during a high-speed chase on Interstate 64. The chase happened Saturday afternoon in Goochland County, northwest of Richmond.

Police say they tried to stop a car for speeding, and the female driver sped away, topping 100 mph. A trooper chased the car, and police say a male passenger began shooting. The trooper's cruiser was hit twice. The trooper was not injured.

Police say the driver took an exit and lost control of the car, hitting some trees. The driver and passenger were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they recovered a gun, and charges are pending against the pair.
