Round Town: comics, zombies and food

(WSLS 10) - If you're a fan of comic books, superheroes and fantasy, head to Tanglewood Mall for Roanoke Valley Comicon. There will be comics, toys and games as well as several meet and greets, including Amber Dawn Fox, who plays Officer Bello on the show "The Walking Dead." Roanoke Valley Comicon is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Walk and dress like a zombie and help a good cause at the Vinton Zombie Walk. Registration starts at 1 p.m. at the Vinton Farmers' Market with the walk starting at 2 p.m. Prizes and activities, as well as a "Brain-Eating Cake Contest" will follow. Registration is $5 with proceeds benefitting the Vinton Needy Family Program.

Bedford County's Sedalia Center holds its annual Chili Cook Off on Saturday. In addition to the chili, there will also be kettle korn, beer, ice cream and more. It's run from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate.

The Polo club at Virginia Tech hosts the first ever Pups-n-Polo on Sunday. It brings together alumni of the club and other graduates, along with dogs from local shelters. More than 200 people are expected to watch the polo match. The Montgomery County Animal Shelter and Animal Welfare Foster Program will be there with animals ready to adopt. It starts at 1 p.m. At Alphin-Stuart Livestock Arena.

Head to Danville for the Children's Festival. Enjoy amusement rides, food, educational activities and scarecrow stuffing. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Crossing at the Dan on Craghead Street.
