Reimagine 419 planners seeking public input

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - There's still time for people to provide input on the 419 Town Center plan in Roanoke County. Design workshops are taking place this week.

Planners are collecting ideas on the type of stores people want to see in the area and what the new town center might look like. Back in September, the county began an eight-month planning study of the Route 419 area of Tanglewood Mall.

Now, planners hope to incorporate more of the ideas community members provide.

"We are developing urban design framework based on what the community is asking and looking for based on their vision," said Steve Kearney, project manager. "What is physically possible given the constraints within this corridor and the market component? What can the market support here as a residential, retail office, hospitality basis?"

The next workshop is Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Tanglewood from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..
