New G.A.T.E. Center in Grayson County

INDEPENDENCE (WSLS 10) - Grayson County leaders are pushing for more agribusiness in the area.

Members on the Board of Supervisors recently opened the Grayson Agriculture and Technical Education Center in downtown Independence.

The facility will house Grayson County extension programs in agriculture and natural resources, as well as an agribusiness incubator.

The goal is to encourage more people to go into farming in Grayson County.

"It's great to have this here. This is a unique resource and I think something that will be of huge value to the agriculture community and to those who may not know about anything about agriculture, but one day aspire to be in it," Israel O'Quinn, 5th District Delegate said.

The center was once the old Grayson County Sheriff's Office and county leaders said it cost about $100,000 to renovate the building.
