Couple sentenced in death of Franklin County man

UPDATE: A judge sentenced a Franklin County couple for hiding a man's body in their home.

According to Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney, both Ben Turner and Jessica Hodges-Turner pleaded guilty to concealing a dead body. Jessica also pleaded guilty to six counts of obtaining money under false pretense. She was originally charged with 12 counts.

The judge dropped the charges of possession of precursors to manufacture meth and abuse and neglect of an incapacitated person resulting in death.

Jessica was sentenced to 3 years in prison and  Ben was sentenced to 430 days in prison, just over a year.

Jerry Hodges' sister Mary Jo said, "What they have done today is that if someone takes care of somebody else, and they get their check, and they pass away, you take and keep them for several months or whatever, and come to court, and what are they going to do to you? Might as well slap you on the wrist and send you home"

Police say Jerry Hodges, was found wrapped in a Rubbermaid style closet in the couple's basement in early 2015.


FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A couple, facing charges in connection to the death of a Franklin County man, are expected to enter a plea today in court.

Jessica Hodges-Turner and her husband, Benjamin Turner, are charged with abuse of an elder leading to death, concealing a body and possession of meth-making materials.

Jessica turner also faces multiple counts of fraud.

Investigators say that he was dead for about three months and neglect was a likely factor.
