Bath County board of supervisors hire attorney to defend three members
WARM SPRINGS (WSLS 10) - The Bath County board of supervisors passed a resolution to hire special legal representation after residents filed a petition to have three board members removed.
The board members will be represented by James Cornwell of Sands Anderson law firm.
The petition accused board members Claire Collins, Richard Byrd and Stuart Hall of violating Virginia code after they cut the tourism budget by $75,000 and eliminated the tourism director position, all in closed session.
The Bath County administrator said the legal fees will be paid by taxpayer dollars.
The first hearing was supposed to happen Wednesday, but it has been postponed to January.
