Bland County deputy arrested, faces multiple charges

WYTHEVILLE (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police have arrested a Bland County deputy, who now faces multiple charges.

The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Wytheville Field Office arrested Kevin Cox, of Ceres, on multiple indictments by a Bland County jury on Monday, December 12.

Cox has been charged with two counts of obtaining money by false pretense, two counts of selling/possession of a Striker 12 (an illegal shotgun) and one count of perjury.

The charges stem from an incident relating back to February 2013, according to state police.

State police initiated the investigation at the request of the Bland County Sheriff's Office, which remains ongoing at this time.
