DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - Someone is $5 million richer after buying a winning lottery ticket in Danville.

A ticket purchased at Murphy's USA, 474 Mount Cross Road in Danville matched the first five number and only missed the Mega Ball number in Tuesday night's drawing.

Normally that would win Mega Millions' second prize of $1 million; however, according to the Virginia Lottery, whoever bought this ticket spent an extra dollar for the Megaplier, which for the drawing was 5x, meaning this ticket is now worth five times more than it would have been without the Megaplier.

The winning numbers for the December 13 drawing were 2-15-26-34-41 and the Mega Ball number was 14.

Whoever has the ticket has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize.

The Virginia Lottery advises that before doing anything else, the winner should immediately sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership. When the person is ready to claim the prize, he or she should contact the Virginia Lottery.

No ticket matched all six numbers in last night's drawing to win the estimated $51 million jackpot. That means the jackpot increases to an estimated $59 million for Friday's drawing.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday nights at 11 p.m.

The odds of matching the first five numbers without the Mega Ball are 1 in 18,492,204.
