Police investigating fatal Pittsylvania County crash

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Pittsylvania County that happened on Wednesday.

Police say the crash happened at 5:30 p.m. on Route 29, a tenth of a mile south of Route 1032.

A 2003 Ford Ranger was traveling south when the driver, 60-year-old Robert Louis Williams Jr., of Lawerenceville, Va., is believed to have had a medical emergency while the vehicle was in motion, according to police. The vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and came to rest in the median.

Williams was wearing his seat belt and was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
