ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The ride-sharing app Lyft is expanding into southwest Virginia.

It is entering into 54 new cities, including Roanoke, Lynchburg and Harrisonburg as well as places like Pensacola, Florida and Amherst, Massachusetts.

Lyft launched in 40 cities last month, bringing its total to 300.

The company's expansion comes at a time when rival Uber is dealing with a number of crises.

Among them is a claim of sexual harassment by a former employee.
