Two officers recovering after shootout in D.C.

WASHINGTON (WSLS 10) - Two police officers are recovering in the hospital after a shootout in a Washington D.C. neighborhood.

Both officers are expected to survive and the suspect was shot and killed.

Police officials say it happened around 11 last night in northeast D.C.

Investigators are still gathering information and hope to know more about what led to the shooting when the officers recover.

Neighborhood Commissioner Kathy Henderson said, "I'm shocked, i'm disgusted. this is just unbelievable and we're not going to tolerate- first of all we denounce violence in all forms across the city, but we certainly will not have anyone shooting at our officers."

Police found a weapon at the scene.

Officers say earlier in the night, four men were shot in three different shootings in the city.
