Roanoke Valley Gives has more nonprofits, bigger goal for 24-hour period

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -  This year's Roanoke Valley Gives is bigger with more non-profits participating.  More than 150 non-profits are hoping to raise half a million dollars during the second annual event on March 15.

The event raised over $360,000 from more than 4,000 donors in 2016.  It's an opportunity for non-profits to raise money and awareness about what they do.

"It gives us an opportunity to educate the community on what it takes to put on live professional theater but also to support the arts in the sense of a teaching capacity, what it takes to teach our conservatory students, to run a classroom, to really have that broad touch," said Ginger Poole, Mill Mountain Theatre Producing Artistic Director. "It's amazing to see what can happen in a 24 hour period in one community."

The minimum gift is $10 and you can schedule a donation to go through on March 15th. More information: https://rvgives.givebig.org/c/rvgives

Roanoke Valley Gives is an initiative of Foundation for Roanoke Valley.  The goal is to raise money for participating Roanoke Valley nonprofits in a 24 hour period while bringing attention to the work and worth of each participating organization.  All donations to the participating organizations on this website are tax-deductible.
