Volunteers needed for 27th Saint Patrick's Day Parade and Shamrock Fest

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The 27th annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade and Shamrock Festival needs volunteers.

More than 50 slots are still available for the March 11 parade in downtown Roanoke if you'd like to help in the biggest parade in the region.

Organizers rely on the community to help throughout the day.

"We have the parade that starts at 11:00 so we rely on volunteers to help us set up and getting things organized. So there's a number of slots in that direction. We also ask for volunteers in our Shamrock festival, checking ID's, selling beer tickets or pouring beer. We also ask for people to help clean up after the event, " said Jamie Clark with Downtown Roanoke Inc.

Downtown Roanoke Inc. and McDonald's are partnering in the event. WSLS 10 will air the parade live at 11 a.m. both on-air and online.
