ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - More than a dozen people are learning how to help others register to vote.
It's part of a recently formed voter registration committee that stemmed from the Women's March of Roanoke.
Organizers say that many people are disenfranchised from voting because they are not properly registered before the deadline.
"A lot of people are disinfranchised in voting in Virginia because they have to update their registration when they move, when they change their name. If they don't realize it, they think they're registered to vote, go vote and find out they can't vote and miss the election," said volunteer trainer Freeda Cathcart.
The goal is to help more voters get signed up ahead of the next election.
