Liberty University nursing students serve homeless

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Liberty University senior nursing students follow Christ's example by washing the feet of homeless men and women.

Monday's free manicure and pedicure clinic at Lynchburg's Salvation Army was the last one this semester.

Students were there every Monday to practice the basic hygiene care and talk to those staying at the shelter about how to take care of their hands and feet.

Barbara Harris, who is staying at the shelter, said she enjoys her time with the future nurses.

"They file your fingernails for you, push back your cuticles, just give you loving," said Barbara Harris.  "They're so nice and sweet and ask you so many questions.  You ask them about where they're from and what field of nursing they would like to end up in."

The men and women leave with a new pair of socks and sometimes shoes.
